The big Dramont beach was one of the main sites of the Provence landings. On 15 August 1944, 20,000 GIs from the US Army’s 36th Division of Texas landed in less than 10 hours with tanks and heavy artillery. With a superb panorama of the Fréjus / St Raphaël bay and Ile d’Or, the Plage du Débarquement is an important witness to modern history.
